THEIR STORIES

Here at Valley, people are the point. We believe that God has created each person on purpose for a purpose; we want to help them find their purpose in Christ. These are just a few of the many life-changing stories we hear from our Valley family.

"Me and my husband had never moved away from home until two years ago, when we moved to Roanoke Rapids, NC for a job opportunity. We were very intentional on finding a church home as soon as possible. The first and only church we visited was Valley Community Church. After our first service, Pastor David Schmaltz made his way to greet us personally and welcome us to the area. We knew that was our church from that day on. With us moving to a new area where we did not know anyone, it challenged us to reach out for friendship and community. Valley had their summer small group starting up and we joined the 20/30s group. We lived in Rocky Mount at the time and we would drive 40 minutes one way just to go to the group because we were so excited to meet new friends. From that group, I have found some of my best friends, and I know that God has brought us together through Valley.

Valley Community Church is a huge reason why we are happy living in Roanoke Rapids. We feel called to this area, and we also do not feel alone. We have mentors, friends, and we are able to serve at a wonderful church filled with great people who love the Lord. This church has made our transition to a new area easier and helped us see our purpose here. We are so thankful for Valley!"

"There was no doubt in either of our minds that God led us here to Valley. We got plugged in almost immediately, and I am so glad we did! We have made some incredible friendships that have made such a difference in our lives. God has blessed us beyond measure with encouragement and support from our Valley family throughout every step of our journey.

I can't even begin to express just how blessed and overjoyed being Valley Kids Coordinator has made me. The absolute joy I have had watching some of our kids give their lives to Christ and be baptized is the best feeling. I cry tears of joy every time. I'm really excited about all of the changes we are making in Valley Kids to better serve these wonderful children, and I can't wait to see what God has in store for us.

It has been really amazing witnessing the growth at Valley. Not just in numbers, but in the things we are doing. From launching a new Valley smartphone app, to offering handmade lattes, to starting a Conservatory for the Arts, and so much more. You can see growth everywhere you look at Valley, and I am just happy to be a part of it! We truly love it here at Valley!"

"Valley Community Church has meant a lot to our family. We attended Valley for several years before becoming members last year. We felt that joining the church was the right fit for us. We love that the word of God is consistently delivered to us every week. It has helped us refocus on our Christian walk and on the purpose that God has for our lives. Valley has helped us continue to train up our children to worship and serve God. Each week we receive a thoughtful loving reminder that God loves us and that He is in control no matter what is happening in our lives or the world. We have enjoyed getting to know other members of the congregation and participating in church events. We are grateful for our church home."
